Biographical information:
Things I've been doing lately:
Software Developer working in PeopleSoft (HR/Payroll system) Married with two boys, Devin (10192) and Garrett (32395) Moved to Greensboro, NC from Lawrenceville, GA in June 2002. I started working for VF Corp. in June of 2002. VFC owns Wrangler, Lee, Northface, Healthtex, Jansport, Nautica, Vans, Reef among others. We were tired of the big city of Atlanta and I had been interested in this area of NC for a while.
My family:
My two sons, Devin (10192) and Garrett (32395) who are very different but an absolute delight. Pacer is our Golden Retriever born Nov. 30, 2000. He is a beautiful dog but also can be a handful at times. He thinks of his family as just a bunch of weird looking dogs that walk on two legs and he is a chipmunk killing beast. :)
Life experiences:
Living in Rhode Island, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Hawaii, and California before the age of 10 and finally settling in Ringgold. Being valedictorian of my class (Teresa Adams eat your heart out :)) even though Williard Thrash was easily the smartest in our class (no it wasnt you Scott Henry). Living and going to college in Atlanta. Snow skiing & water skiing. Going through a divorce (not fun but defintely a life lesson). Getting remarried. Enjoying raising two wonderful boys and coaching them in soccer and other sports. I still run a lot and am proud of breaking 17min. in 5k, sub 36 in the 10k and 1:18 half marathon. Ran the 100th Boston Marathon in 1996 (1 of 3). After Graduating from Georgia State University with a BS in Math & minor in Information Systems, went to work as a software developer. Getting into PeopleSoft.
My favorite memories of the good ole days:
Loved playing sports, enjoyed academics and was kind of obsessed with weightlifting. My favorite teachers were Sandra Owens (I was a chemistry major), Frank Gordy (I became a math major), and Beverly Lewis. I really loved going to the Pizza Hut with Jeff Daffron, Lee Holsomback, Phil Delay, Lamar Brown and Bo Calloway after we won football games. Wrestling was not only a blast but one of the toughest things Ive ever done. Definitely made me appreciate food. :) My favorite coach was Coach Steve McDaniel (You may not be the best but youll be in shape). Kicking Cathy Turners butt in 10 minute typing timings (watch those mistakes). Hanging out with Lee and Cindy (who was that jerk you dated from Lafayette?) grading typing papers. Building floats even though we built the worst floats in RHS history (hey our Jr. prom rocked though). I enjoyed lifeguarding at the Ringgold Pool and all the people there in the summer (Anybody want to play some Rook). And last but not least hanging out with a great gal from the class of 77.
My favorite things now:
Took up distance running after high school and still enjoy it as well as cycling and swimming. Actually strenuous activity in general. Love the fact that I finally live in a place where I can bike into work regularly. Enjoy watching my kids grow up and how much more they have to do in school than I had to do. :) Especially like watching them play sports like soccer. Sure wish it was around when I was young.
My favorite books, movies and music:
One of my favorite movies: Shawshank Redemption (Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying), Vision Quest (only good wrestling flick ever made), American Flyers (old cycling flick) Music: I like John Mayer, David Grey, Sting, Billy Joel, Dan Fogelberg, Dave Matthews, Eagles (seen them twice in concert). Books mostly nonfiction.
I work at:
VF Corporation. (Wrangler, Lee, North Face, etc)
